McDonald's $5 Meal Deal Will be Sticking Around for a Little While Longer this Summer

The “$5 Meal Deal,” which drew a sizable crowd in spite of rising food costs, will continue to be offered at practically every McDonald’s location in the US.

According to an internal McDonald’s memo that was able to get, the firm claimed that since the limited-time offer’s inception in June, it is “resonating with our millions of customers” and that it was taking business away from its competitors. 93% of US establishments will therefore continue to offer the offer on their menus until August.

The “$5 Meal Deal,” which McDonald’s launched in late June, was only scheduled to last a month. A tiny soft drink, a McChicken sandwich or double cheeseburger, little french fries, and four Chicken McNuggets round up the meal.

McDonald’s has spoke about how it raises menu prices without feeling the pain of customers pulling back, even before it reported lower-than-expected sales in the first quarter of this year. But, the impact from rising food prices wasn’t limited to McDonald’s; other chains were also feeling the pinch. Because people are eating out less frequently and spending less money when they do, restaurant visitation is down and fast food sales are slowing down.
The $5 deal, according to the memo, is “meeting the objective of driving guests back to our restaurants” and is incentivizing some consumers to make full-price purchases, which raises revenue.

The $5 deal may be “further extended” past August, according to a document from McDonald’s (MCD), which will report earnings on July 29.

The message had no specific financial data. The arrangement increased restaurant sales, according to a recent report by independent analytics firm Pacer.ai, which also noted “how well-received this special has been among McDonald’s fans.”

What is included in the deal for $5 meals?

Choose from a McChicken or McDouble for $5, which comes with four pieces of chicken McNuggets, small fries, and a small drink.

Until the end of the year, McDonald’s App users can take advantage of extra promotions, such as “Free Fries Friday,” which offers free medium fries with a $1 minimum purchase.

McDonald’s opens more locations and launches a CosMc’s offshoot.

McDonald’s declared in December that it would open 10,000 new locations worldwide by 2027, with the US accounting for 900 of those openings.

The corporation also revealed a bold objective for My McDonald’s Rewards: by 2027, it wants to increase the number of 90-day active members from 150 million to 250 million.

McDonald’s has also made investments in CosMc’s, a recent spin-off that has been profitable for the company thus far, in addition to this growth.
The massive fast-food chain stated that ten additional outlets will open in 2024, although it did not immediately say where, outside of the “Dallas and San Antonio metro areas.”

This vintage small-format restaurant, which serves quirky customized beverages and a few tiny meals, is McDonald’s first entry into the beverage-led sector. The first Illinois store had traffic that surpassed that of an average McDonald’s in its first month of operation, with lines stretching for hours on end on opening day. Earlier this year, a second location in Dallas opened. Three places were listed in Texas as of July.
