An effective exercise for developing depth in your upper back is the inverted row.

Position a level bench lengthwise in front of the smith machine.

Make sure the smith machine bar is about 4 feet off the ground by adjusting its height.

Place your heels on the bench and place your hands on the smith machine bar little wider than your shoulder width.

Make sure your body is erect. This is where everything begin.

Raise your upper body toward the bar while maintaining a straight posture.

After pausing, return to the starting position by lowering yourself.

Continue until you reach the required number of reps.

Tips for an Elevated Inverted Row Foot

As you draw up align yourself such that the bar contacts your midsection. That’s the upper/lower limit of the bar.

Maintain an upright posture and avoid allowing your belly to slump.

Place some weight plates on top of your body to make it harder
